Vintage Mexican Hand Woven Embroidered Purple Cotton Huipil Sleeveless Tunic Top
This vintage Mexican hand woven embroidered purple cotton huipil sleeveless tunic top dates from the 1950s. It is made of a purple and white cotton weave woven on a backstrap loom, with a colorful orange, blue, yellow and green striped woven and hand embroidered pattern design around the neckline down the front. This traditional folk costume peasant top has a Mexican Central American huipil sleeveless straight shift loose fitting tunic top over the head style, seamed together on the front and is unlined. The top measures 30 inches long, with a 34 inch chest, 38 inch waist and 38 inch hips. It is in good condition, has not been cleaned with a few faint small stains (see close-up). This is truly a wonderful piece of hand woven wearable Mexican folk art!
